*2024*How to wear dungarees plus size? 28 looks!

When I was in my early 20s, dungarees is never my favorite.

Yes, it’s comfortable and cute for a lazy Sunday but somehow I just feel like I look like a clumsy adult trying to look like a toddler.

As a pear-shaped curvy girl, I just don’t think dungaree can be flattering on me.

Well, I was so wrong.

With different outfit styling, dungarees can look so chic and even feminine.

So ladies, if you can ask me how to wear dungarees in plus size, below are my 6 tips.

Enjoy!

DISCLAIMER:

The truth is, we are all perfect imperfections.

You want to learn these outfit hacks ONLY if you feel like it but are not pressured by others. Remember, we never have the need to “fix” our bodies!

You don’t have to be pretty like HER, you can be pretty like YOU.

And believe it or not, there’s still NOT ENOUGH plus-size content around Pinterest and other places on the internet …at all.

So ladies, before reading the tips, please help pin the pin below & support plus-size ladies ♥!

1. BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT THE FABRIC OF DUNGAREES

Ladies, fabric matters. It’s worth investing in a good pair of dungarees that truly give you support and hug your curve.

Instead of wearing thin fabric made from 80% polyester and 20% cotton, find sturdy fabric like denim and thick tweed.

Not only the high-quality fabric can give you a more decent look, but it is also supportive and thick enough to hold your belly and smooth out any lumps and bumps.

However, with the thin fabric, not only it can see it through and makes our rolls look more obvious, this just makes our body looks baggy.

So ladies, if you want to look smart and structured in your dungarees, spend some time picking the right one!

2. AVOID HUGE PRINTS TO MINIMIZE THE EXAGGERATING EFFECT

I know this tip is not something new but ladies, definitely avoid huge prints.

We all know huge prints have an exaggerated effect and make will make our body looks bigger.

The design of the dungarees naturally will add some bulk to our tummy area.

If you wear big floral prints, that’s gonna exaggerate the belly even more. (I’ve been there and I’ve never worn my floral prints dungarees anymore, just horrible).

So yes, a cute pinafore dress is more than enough. For the above black pinafore dress, here’s are the Amazon review from l.garner:

“Ordered this for a trip to a pumpkin patch and I LOVE it!! I ordered a size bigger just to be safe and I kind of wish I had ordered my regular size. I’m 5’2 and the dress was a great length, so if you’re taller it may be short. Definitely recommend!! “

3. GO FOR A V-NECK TOP TO BALANCE OUT THE CHILDISHNESS

Off-shoulder tops with dungarees are the best combination I’ve tried so far, it’s just truly flattering on me and I believe this applies to many other ladies as well!

It’s true that wearing dungarees can look a bit childish if you are not a teenager.

However, you can always wear a V-neck and off-shoulder top to add a touch of femininity to it.

By showing the neckline and clavicle, it perfectly balances out the cuteness of the dungarees.

As a chubby cheek girl, wearing an off-shoulder makes my face appear to be smaller and makes my upper body looks less bulky.

If off-shoulder is not your thing, I do think wearing a V-neck is more flattering than a round neck.

With the sharp V shape lining, it can elongate our neck.

I usually try my best to avoid round neck and high neck tops as it makes my face looks bigger.

4. KEEP IT CASUAL CHIC WITH ONE STRAP

Sometimes when I wear my dungarees on, I just feel something’s not right. It took me some time to figure out the reason – I look too “obedient” with two stripes on with a white T-shirt underneath.

Especially when you are curvy, there isn’t much room in your dungarees and you just look a bit suffocated and cumbersome in them.

If you also have this concern, consider wearing it with one strap! This is such a no-fail tip to make you look chic and casual.

In winter, when I want to style a sweater with my dungarees, I will definitely wear one strap.

Not only does this give me more room to breathe (plus-size ladies will understand), but this just washes out the toddler vibes and help you look put together!

This is so random… BUT

hey ladies, why not quickly do an affirmation and feel instantly better?

This new year, I’m trying not only to share fashion tips but come up with ways to instill body positivity in all women who are reading my articles – aka YOU!

Instead of just reading it, say it loud or murmur the quotes (if you are in public) to maximize the effect.

Ready? Here we go.

I love my body. She is my forever home and sanctuary.

Sassy isn’t a shape, it’s an attitude.

Work out because I love my body – not because I hate it.

I can love myself and change my body at the same time. No guilt about that.

It is completely normal to have tummy rolls. I come to realize that social media isn’t showing the reality… at all.

My happiest moments in life had nothing to do with the way my body looked.

I don’t have to be pretty like her, I can be pretty like …ME.

I AM perfect imperfection.

What are your thoughts on that? I hope that makes you feel better (as you deserved).

Please help me pass the body positivity message in your community. #womenhelpwomen

5. ROLL & CUFF YOUR PANTS WHEN YOU WEAR DUNGAREES

If you love wearing long dungaree pants, let’s not forget to cuff your pants!

Without the help of high-waist jeans, wearing a dungaree can mess up our body ratio visually if we don’t know how to style it.

That being said, always roll and cuff your pants.

As the ankle is the thinnest part of our leg, we should always show it as it helps to elongate our legs more and make them appear to be longer.

6. WEAR DUNGAREE WITH FLARE DESIGNS FOR LONGER LEGS

Can we spend a few seconds to adore these flare jeans cutting? It’s such a pity that not so many ladies know this kind of design exists!
