Lace is my all-time favorite as this is an elegant classy fabric that never will go out of style!
Time has changed, you can wear a lace dress in both formal and casual situations for sure.
However, during wintertime, lace is definitely not strong enough to keep what you want so you may need some layering tips!
So, here are the 6 tips to figure out what to wear with a lace dress in winter, feel free to get creative with your dress ladies!
1. WEAR AN OVERSIZE SWEATER ON TOP OF LONG LACE DRESS
This is a no-brainer to wear a sweater with a lace dress in winter, it’s also a clever way to dress down a lace dress.
With different types of sweaters, you can create different vibes and the combination can be endless!
Another cool thing is you can always wear your thermal garment before the sweater so you can look less bulky and chic with your beautiful lace!
A.ROUND NECK SWEATER
If you want to attain a cute sweet look, a round-neck sweater is always a good choice!
But I seldom style my lace dress with a round-neck sweater.
As I don’t have a long neckline and thus my face always looks even chubbier in that!
But for the other girls with a V-shaped face, I can tell the round neck sweater can truly look feminine and sweet on them!
B. V-NECK SWEATER
You just can’t go wrong with styling with a V-neck.
With the defined lining of the V-neck, it effortlessly makes you look chic and sleek.
It can also balance out the formality and femininity of the lace dress if you want a more neutral casual street look.
Again, it creates an illusion of a longer face so V neck sweater is a must-have for chubby cheek girls!
Instead of a normal V-neck sweater, I sometimes will opt for an oversize one to show more neckline to add a bit of sexiness during some cool winter days!
C.EYELASH KNIT SWEATER
The eyelash knit sweater looks PERFECT with a lace dress but I feel like no one even talks about that!
From the Pinterest feed, I saw many ladies style the lace dress with a cable knit sweater, well, they are missing out!
If you want to attain a classy polished look, you have to style the lace dress with an eyelash knit sweater!
This is a type of novelty yarn and it adds a bit more volume than the usual sweater.
It effortlessly brings a low-key luxurious vibe that matches the lace dress very well! If you want a Friday date night outfit, you just can’t go wrong with this combination!
Cashmere is a must-have staple in every women’s wardrobe, it’s extremely soft and most importantly, it’s much warmer than the other texture.
With a creamy cashmere sweater and a fine lace dress, this elegant winter look will set you apart from the crowd for sure.
2. LAYER A TURTLENECK UNDERNEATH THE SLIP LACE DRESS
If you have some slip-lace dresses, this tip is for you! Layer a plain turtleneck underneath your dress to attain a sweet ladylike look.
As lace is already a complicated pattern, for the turtleneck you may want to choose a plain color like black and white to highlight your lace.
Also, you want to choose the opposite color to maximize the effect. If you are wearing a black lace dress, a white turtleneck will look the best.
Another tip about this outfit style is to keep it simple!
After some trial and error, I do think keeping the whole outfit in just two colors looks the best, otherwise, it can be a little bit cheesy if you add so much bright colors.
If you are wearing white lace, you can wear a white turtleneck and ivory boots. Simple yet chic!
3. LAYER A WHITE LONG-SLEEVE SHIRT UNDERNEATH A SLIP LACE DRESS
If you want to attain a girl boss look, here’s the combination you looking for.
With a long-sleeve white top underneath your lace dress, you feel be surprised this refreshing combination actually looks really good.
I won’t fasten the top 3 buttons to create a natural V line, this always makes you look put together.
Every time when I wear this outfit I always feel slightly empowered with the girl boss vibes!
But of course, not every slip-lace dress fits this styling.
Dresses that are too transparent or too tight may not be a good choice, so you may try out your lace dresses to find the perfect combination!
4. WEAR A MOTO JACKET WITH A LACE DRESS FOR AN URBAN CHIC LOOK
To be honest, I am not a moto jacket girl but I have to admit this style of jacket looks great with a lace dress surprisingly!
I refuse to wear a moto jacket for a long time because I thought it was too masculine for me and looks like I am trying too hard.
But it looks surprisingly refreshing and less overwhelming when I combine the lace dress and the jacket together.
As lace is really feminine, it balances out the cool tone of the moto jacket and achieves a fashionable casual look.
With a pair of oxford sneakers, this is also an easy way to dress down a lace dress!
5. WEAR A DUFFY BLOUSE ON TOP OF A LACE DRESS FOR A FEMININE LOOK
Obviously, this is another outfit tip that is being underestimated!
If styling with the sweater is too repetitive for you and you want to spice things up, the Duffy blouse does wonder for your lace dress.
Whether it’s a short dress or a long dress, this elegant blouse seamlessly fits the dress.
Every time when I wear this blouse, people always think this is a whole set that sewing together instead of two separate pieces!
Also, with complicated prints, some lace dresses are quite heavy at the bottom and you want to add some volume to your upper body to make your look more united.
With these slightly puffy sleeves, it can effortlessly complete your look.
Ladies, buy yourself a Duffy blouse and you will be amazed at how well it looks with your lace dress!
6. WEAR A LACE DRESS WITH A CLASSIC BEIGE TRENCH COAT
I know this tip is not fancy at all but sometimes back to basic is always a classy and elegant way to style a lace dress.
With a classic beige trench coat and a nice pair of boots, I am sure it looks great with lace, especially when it comes to timeless white and black.
Added to this, trench coats always look more defined and polished with the fitted dress.
As a lace dress can always hug perfectly when it comes to our body shape, that’s a perfect choice to style it with a trench coat!
Coco Chanel once said, “I consider lace to be one of the prettiest imitations ever made of the fantasy of nature”.
I deeply resonate with this statement. Lace is not just one of the many kinds of fabrics, what’s more, it represents elegance, femininity, and timelessness.
It’s such a pity if we can only dress lace dresses during summertime!
With proper layering and paying intention to the fabric, you can have your one-of-a-kind style even on cold days!
