Looking for some flattering beach wear and resort wear over 50s? Babe I got you covered.
First thing first, let’s start with one of my favorite quotes from Ralph Lauren.
“It’s not about age. It’s about taste, and it’s about lifestyle. I believe women of all ages can wear anything.”
Ralph Lauren
Gold.
If you think some looks are off-limit, that’s because YOU think it is. Seriously, as long as you feel good, throw that on!
That said, there’s nothing wrong if your goal is to dress according to age.
Ahead, I’ve gathered 20 vacation outfit ideas that are as classy, figure-forgiving as it’s practical and fun to wear.
From swimsuits to cover-ups to some outfit combos, it’s time to get inspired, my love!
1. Off-shoulder one-piece swimsuit
If you want to highlight your feminine figure but are not comfortable showing too much skin, one piece is your godsend.
This ruffle design enables you to showcase the neckline and camouflage the upper arm fat at the same time.
The best part? The straps are detachable and you can wear it as a cute top with jeans in the resort!
2. V-neck swimsuit skirt
As for the ladies who don’t wanna show the bottom out, the one-piece skirt is for you!
There’s one review (by LK) from Amazon that makes me want to recommend this swimsuit here.
I’m in my 70s and haven’t worn a proper swimsuit in YEARS. This swimsuit changed that! It makes me feel good about my body, covers and supports a large bust.
This swimsuit hides camouflage tummy and back bulges and gives me a flattering shape. It is lined, made of a substantial material and the skirt is a modest length that covers the bottom.
It comes with more than 20 patterns and colors – check that out!
3. Tummy control halter neck swimsuit
And here’s the last swimsuit of this article – a tummy control one.
I bought this myself and I am obsessed with it.
Regardless of my bloated tummy, it can always smooth things out – The ruching design is like a dream.
And the halter neck just makes my chest look slightly bigger as well!
4. Effortless chic beach look: White shirt
When in doubt, throw on an oversized white shirt as it literally goes with everything!
It just effortlessly gives out youthful fun vibes without trying too hard.
If you want to showcase your colorful holiday bag, a simple white shirt just serves as the best canvas!
If you want something extra fun, check out this romper from FARM RIO!
It looks like a dress shirt but actually a romper – what a nice twist!
Together with the handy side pocket, this romper just surprisingly practical and modest in every way.
5. When in doubt, go FLORAL
Of course, when it comes to vacation dresses, floral prints are always the classic.
For the most non-cliche floral prints and high quality fabric, Lilly Pulitzer dresses are definitely my gems.
From the self-tie belt to the puffy sleeve to the flattering mid-sleeve, their dresses are always refreshing to wear and universally flattering.
It gives the plan beach and clear blue sky vibes.
Such a mood booster.
6. Modest beach wear over 50: Tunic
Calling all caftan lovers!
The elegant medallion print and unique green grosgrain trim help to achieve the right dose of formality for this dress.
It’s versatile enough ranging from chill poolside afternoon drinks to a dressy evening out depends what shoes you pair with.
This ultra-classic neckline just makes this dress look so elegant and polished.
7. Swimsuit + Sarong as a classic combo
For a last-minute look, a beach cover-up just comes in super handy.
Especially when you have a cute swimsuit to highlight, a simple beach cover-up skirt is perfect.
Less is more!
8. Classy beach wear: Add a dose of white
If you want to look modern and sophisticated in a casual ensemble, white is your go-to color.
Seriously, it just elevates your look tenfold.
An off-shoulder polka dot, white flared pants, and cute basket bag just look perfect together.
The high waist design just makes the look more flattering even on bare feet.
To further elevate your white pants, use the scarf as a belt just scream “I’ve got a style & I rock it”.
In my eyes, this get-up just looks way more expensive than throwing on the big logo from head to toe!
Can you dress modestly while having fun? For sure!
Sometimes it’s about getting experimental with some fun colors!
A lime green linen shirt, a white crisp top, and silver flats? That’s a YES for me.
9. Scarf is your bestie
To turn an otherwise plain resort outfit into a tasteful one, throw on a scarf and you’re on set!
More often than not, looking stylish is about the essence of not trying too hard.
All you have to do is throw on a vibrant print scarf and let the beautiful draping speak for itself.
Not only does it add some dimensions to the look, but the scarf also draws your eyes upward and makes you appear taller!
To dress up a plain white tee, add a dose of cabin-crew chic with a scarf just look cute and tasteful.
Or else, if you want to look more sophisticated, a classic French Knot will be a great choice.
Seriously, a well-styled scarf is the most quintessential accessory ever and you’ll never run out of ways to style it!
10. Billowy tops + form-fitting bottoms
When you are over 50, you are not just for the aesthetic but also to take practicality into the formula.
After all, as ladies, we have a ton of situations from bloated tummy to discomfort during postpartum.
Of all, I think one of the most stylish yet comfiest combos is a flowy top + fitted pants.
I desperately want to know where this top is from as it’s honestly stunning!
I love how this lady matches the earrings and tops in the same hue – it helps elongate your frame visually and makes you look more put together.
Together with the pearl sandals, this look is a 10/10.
By the way, do you know that T-strap sandals tend to extend the legs and make you appear to be taller?
As a 5’3 girl, I do feel the difference!
Another “look taller” tip inspired by this lady – wear the asymmetrical top.
Featuring the diagonal hemline, it draws eyes vertically and again, extends your figure from head to toe!
11. Statement flat sandals
So you’ve pinned down the outfits, well, let’s not forget to complete the look with the right pair of shoes!
If you want to take a nice shoot on the beach, these Tory Burch flats are your new gem.
I usually don’t prefer shoes with a big logo.
However, for this design, the logo and the shoes are in the same shade, which makes it more subtle and classy – obsessed!
As for the ladies who to brighten up the look with an extra pop of fun, definitely go for gold flats.
It looks incredibly nice with just a simple white shirt dress look and gives out a dash of effortless chic.
Is that just me but from my observation, it seems to me that the mature ladies look especially good with the golden and champagne flats – they just carry the look with a dash of distinctive flare.
Side note:
To play safe, I will always bring a pair of Havaianas Flip-Flop if I want to walk for quite a while on the beach.
The rubber sole is nice and squishy so they are super comfy to walk around in and it’s super light to just throw in my tote bag.
Trust me, you’ll need this.
