I am not necessarily a jogger person but when it comes to velvet joggers, that’s another story.
Velvet joggers are truly versatile!
They are comfy but slightly more dressed up than the original cotton joggers.
You can definitely achieve both a casual and dressy look with different outfits, the combination can be endless!
Plus, with the distinctive velvet fabric, it just looks effortlessly stylish and classy even if it’s just a pair of joggers.
So yes, velvet joggers are my thing, and here are the 6 most flattering ways when it comes to what to wear with velvet joggers, enjoy!
1. Keep it simple with sneakers for a comfy chic look
As the saying goes “Always dress well but keep it simple.” You seriously can look chic and stylish with just a plain T-shirt and a pair of soft and plush velvet joggers.
While the normal cotton sweatpants may look a bit too laid back for outings, the velvet joggers just naturally make you look more dressed up.
During the autumn time, these velvet pants are my favorite home wear.
Many times, I will just simply go out with these pants when I need to get some errands done!
Surprisingly, I just don’t feel awkward at all as these velvet pants just make me look way more put together!
Thanks to them, I’ve saved up so much time when it comes to deciding what to wear.
Can’t believe life can get easier with velvet pants!
2. Pair your velvet top and sweatpants together as a set
Another no-brainer is to pair your velvet top and joggers together! As a lazy girl, I will just buy the set instead of pairing my tops and pants separately.
With the monochrome wearing, you will look visually taller and slimmer with those sets.
While they can look flattering, from my personal experience, you can end up looking to wear a lady in pajamas if you don’t pay attention to the design.
My suggestion is to stay away from baggy designs that can look like pajamas.
Always opt for the fitted cut design that hugs your curves correctly so you can look more put together.
For me, I prefer the velvet hoodie and joggers set like this just looks really flattering, sporty yet stylish.
Plus, this is obviously not the pajama style at all!
If you really prefer a baggy style, you can always choose the set with the cropped top.
Showing a little bit of skin around the waist can easily balance out the bagginess of the outfit.
3. Style with ruffle or lace tops for a feminine dressy look
If you want to look more dressy and feminine, my advice is always to style a top with details to make your outfit look more complete.
While changing sneakers to heels can instantly make you look more dressed up, let’s not forget about your top!
Since velvet fabric looks lustrous and classy, the overall vibes will be more united if you opt for the top with some detailing other than the plain white shirt.
For me, I love to style the velvet joggers with the off-shoulder top with ruffles trims, it just adds a dash of elegance to the outfit.
The top certainly complements the splendid velvet fabric perfectly.
Basically, any detailing (like lace or ruffles) that adds a little bit of volume to the top can pair well with the joggers.
Of course, if you just want a casual chic look, it’s absolutely fine to pair a white tee with joggers at all!
4. Wear a sweater with velvet joggers for a harmonious look
If tops with detailing aren’t your style, don’t worry, you can always wear a sweater with your velvet jogger as well!
To my surprise, any kind of plain simple sweater can surely complement the velvet pants.
The reason being is the fabric of the sweater is usually thick (at least thicker than the T-shirt) so it matches the velvet fabric harmoniously.
During the autumn time, pairing a beige sweater with velvet red joggers will truly make you look casual, comfy yet sophisticated in a stylish way.
5. Wear a denim jacket or blazer to complete your look
Of course, let’s not forget about the outerwear!
A denim jacket just enriches the outfit even more as this is such a surprisingly nice combination to style denim with velvet.
However, since denim and velvet are both dense fabrics, for the top we better choose some lightweight, plain fabric like silk or cotton to balance out the heaviness.
My other favorite is style velvet joggers with a biker jacket, the soft velvet just makes the overall look less masculine.
Last but not least, pairing a blazer with velvet joggers is a no-brainer.
It looks classy, polished yet extremely comfy. Just perfect workwear if your company isn’t that formal!
6. Opt for fitted instead of baggy for a versatile look
Last but not least, here’s my little reminder: always look for fitted jogger pants rather than baggy ones.
I realized many girls (me included) bought the velvet pants in hype but then realized the look wasn’t what they expected and end up not wearing them.
After the lessons, I realize the fitted (or slim-cut) velvet joggers are more versatile than the baggy ones as the latter one just looks way too casual.
For example, it is a little hard to look polished if you style the blazer with pants that are too baggy.
Plus, always pay attention to the length of the joggers. If you want your leg to look longer, choose the joggers that show your ankle area.
So ladies, here are the 6 ways when it comes to what to wear with velvet joggers. Let’s have a quick checklist first.
- Keep it simple with sneakers for a comfy chic look
- Pair your velvet top and sweatpants together as a set
- Style with ruffle or lace tops for a feminine dressy look
- Wear a sweater with velvet joggers for a harmonious look
- Wear a denim jacket or blazer to complete your look
- Opt for fitted instead of baggy for a versatile look
