What to REALLY wear with denim shoes? 18 refreshing combos!

When it comes to denim shoes, what is your initial impression of them?

Not gonna lie, for a while ago, denim shoes in my mind are something a schoolgirl would wear.

Well, clearly I was so wrong.

With different types of designs, denim shoes can effortlessly create different styles and they are truly flattering.

Besides looking casual, you can definitely look feminine and elegant with these cuties.

So here are the 7 ideas when it comes to what to wear with denim shoes, enjoy!

1. STYLE WITH WHITE FOR A CLASSIC YET REFRESHING LOOK

While black is a no-brainer, can we talk about how flattering white is?

When people ask me how to wear denim x denim without looking tacky, my answer is always the same – incorporate white in your outfit.

White naturally looks refreshing, natural, and classy and this resonates with the fresh youthful vibes of denim so well.

Plus, white serves as a good canvas to highlight your denim shoes.

In summer, I am sure a simple white shirt dress with a pair of lovely denim heels always makes you stand out from the crowd!

People just always overlook the “white shirt x denim” classic combination, what a pity.

2. PAIR TIMELESS JEANS FOR A NO-FAIL LOOK

When it comes to denim shoes, of course, timeless jeans are on the list.

Skinny jeans basically go well with everything, including different types of denim flats or heels!

If you want to look more put together, you can always match the color tone of the jeans and shoes to make the outfit look more united.

For example with white denim heels, I will always pair them with a pair of cream or beige jeans to complete the look.

For blue denim heels, I will always wear dark blue heels with light blue jeans to make the lower body part looks more balanced.

I just don’t find dark blue jeans x light blue shoes flattering on me, feels like it visually makes the body proportion imbalanced.

Another tip is if you want your legs to look longer and slimmer, try to wear flared jeans with heels!

With the bell-bottom design, it hides the bulkiness of the claves.

Also, by covering 1/3 of your heels, your legs just look naturally longer. If you haven’t got flared jeans, you are certainly missing out girls!

3. WEAR A ONE-PIECE DRESS WITH DENIM HEELS FOR A YOUTHFUL LOOK

Does anyone also agree that a Panama hat, floral dress, and denim heels should belong together?

Denim scandals go well with different types of holiday dresses and they never fail to impress me!

Whenever I wear these heels, I just feel a sense of liberation because I just can’t help but think of holidays.

4. COMPLETE YOUR DENIM SHOES WITH PASTEL COLORS

We have such a love-hate relationship with pastel colors.

We all secretly love them but the fact is we can easily look undesirably too dreamy or awkward when we layer the colors wrong.

When it comes to the color of shoes, my ultimate no-brainer is a pair of cream Vans.

The casual denim fabric neutralizes the sweetness of the pastel colors and completes the look in a harmonious way.

I’ve tried to pair it with black vans but clearly, white denim match better with the pastel!

5. WEAR DARKER SHADES OF BLUE FOR A MORE SOPHISTICATED LOOK

Many ladies will think denim shoes aren’t their cup of tea as this is too juvenile for them.

Well, I can confidently tell you it’s not always the case! With the right design, denim shoes can always look feminine and classy!

The first tip is to avoid round-toe denim flats or heels (except espadrilles).

The round toe is really a bit too youthful, plus my legs always look thicker in them.

Instead, pointy-toe shoes are my all-time favorite. Not only it elongates my leg visually with the V lining, this design is more sophisticated and trendy.

Second, opt for dark denim instead of light denim.

Despite the fact that it is easier to match the outfit color, dark colors generally just look more mature and polished.

For me, I wear dark denim heels with my black blazer during weekdays and light denim flats on lazy Sundays!

Third, always pay attention to the details and pattern of your denim heels.

If you want to add a dash of elegance to your shoes, I strongly recommend you choose denim with lace.

This is such a perfect combination to balance the ladylike element like lace with such a causal denim fabric.

6. EMBRACE ELEGANT DENIM ESPADRILLES WITH A MAXI DRESS AND BASKET TOTE

If a pair of black heels are a must-have item of all time, then I believe denim espadrilles are a must-have item of summertime!

The thing I love about espadrilles is it looks elegant yet casual at the same time.

Despite skinny jeans, the classic way to pair the espadrilles is to wear a maxi dress with a gorgeous basket bag.

This look will never go out of style.

I adore the espadrilles with lace but unavoidably laces will make your leg looks a bit thicker.

My tip is always to choose the lace with the nude color so it will seamlessly blend in with your legs’ skin tone.

By that, your leg can still look elongated!

7. WEAR DENIM OVER-KNEE BOOTS FOR A CHIC LOOK

Last but not least, if you want to try something new, denim over-knee boots will be your choice!

Since thick denim fabric adds some volume to your leg, I suggest adding some weight to the upper body so it can look balanced.

Any kind of oversized hoodie or sweater will look amazing with denim boots.

If you want the “denim x denim” layering, style your boots with a denim jacket and a simple white tee can never go wrong!

As a side note, if denim boots are too bold for you, you can always pair a pair of jeans with black over-knee boots to get your daily dose of girl boss vibes xo
