For such a long time, I only have the over-the-knee boots in the high-heel version.
As a 5.2 ft girl, I never thought flat knee-high boots can look flattering on me.
Well, clearly I was wrong. After owning the flat over-the-knee boots these years, I realize I can still look put together in them.
They are comfy, chic, and perfect for daily wear! This does take me some time to figure out how to look tall and chic with the flat boots but it’s all worth it!
So ladies, here are the 7 tips if you wonder what to wear with flat over-the-knee boots!
I hope you can get some inspiration, enjoy!
1. Opt for a fitted cut for the flat knee-high boots
When it comes to flat knee-high boots, I always go for the fitted cutting rather than the loose one.
It’s true that some tall girls can easily pull off the loose flat thigh-high boots, but I am pretty sure that doesn’t work for me.
The bagginess of the heels will visually shorten my legs and make my calves appear to be thicker.
For me, the fitted stretchy design always looks the best.
Showing the curves of the legs just makes my legs look thinner in black boots even without the high heels.
2. Opt for a pointed toe instead of the round toe
Another little reminder is always to opt for the pointed flat thigh-high boots rather than the round toe if you want to look taller.
Everyone has different styles.
If you want to look cute and add a sense of softness to your look, round-toe boots will work great for you.
However, if you want to look chic and taller, a pointed-toe boot is a no-fail option!
With the pointed toe, the V lining will visually elongate your leg a little bit and make you look taller.
Plus, when it comes to versatility, pointed toe is more of a common design these days and you can pair it with basically all types of clothes.
I don’t know about you but whenever I wear pointed-toe heels, I just feel more put together! (Anyone can relate?)
3. Style with a belted sweater dress to look put together

When I wear the high heel boots, I never wear my sweater dress with my belt on.
However, with the flat thigh-high boots, the belted sweater dress is such a perfect piece to style with!
First, belted dress help defines my waist and create high-waisted silhouettes.
So even when I am wearing flat heels, I won’t feel insecure about my figure at all.
Second, as both baggy sweater dresses and flat over-the-knee boots look slightly casual, a belt is useful here to make me look a bit more dressed up!
4. Wear the dress with an asymmetric hem to create a thinner legs illusion
I hope that’s a new tip for you as I’ve just discovered these days! I just can’t wait to share with you girls!
Believe it or not, tops or dresses with asymmetric hems will make your legs look slimmer in flat thigh-high boots.
The reason being is when people look at the asymmetric lining, they will subconsciously focus on the angles instead of the curves.
I know it sounds weird but you can test it out yourself!
Plus, while asymmetric tops are getting more popular these days, it is still not that common.
So if you want to look more stylish and one of a kind with the causal flat thigh-high boots here’s the chance!
5. Wear shorts for a comfy chic look

I always thought people only wear over-the-knee boots during winter until I saw some girls wear T-shirts and shorts with boots and look absolutely stylish in a comfy way!
Have you ever experienced an awkward situation where you wear a pair of high heel boots but still don’t look tall in the photo?
One of the reasons can be you are wearing heels with a long dress and you aren’t showing any skin on your leg.
At the end of the day, looking tall is also about visual body proportion.
You can always look taller when wearing shorts as you can show more skin of the thigh area and visually contour your leg ratio.
I hope that gives you some incentive to wear flat thigh-high boots during summer! It’s a nice try, isn’t it?
6. Monochrome is a no-brainer to look high fashion
If you want to look high fashion on a budget, it’s time for you to embrace the monochrome trend!
With similar shades, it just makes you look more dressed up and polished.
My favorite look is wearing an off-shoulder charcoal grey sweater dress with my black flat over-the-knee boots – simple yet stylish!
If you are worried tone-on-tone style will look boring, do not worry as you can always get creative with the fabrics!
If you are already wearing shiny faux leather boots, you can wear something matte-like velvet for your dress!
7. Wear the same color tone for the lower body for a united look
If you aren’t ready for the monochrome wearing, you can try wearing the same color tone for the lower part to make your outfit look more united!
It doesn’t necessarily have the be the same color tone but you can always find complementary colors instead.
For example, it’s hard to pair olive green thigh-high boots with dark green jeans but you can pair them with grey jeans instead.
Grey and olive green won’t create big color contrast and thus they just look harmonious together.
With a similar color shade, your body won’t be divided by different colors and thus look taller and slimmer!
