Hey girl! So I know you’ve been wondering about this whole weight thing during pregnancy.
Like, is it even okay to try losing fat while you’re growing a tiny human? Let’s chat about it because I totally get why it’s on your mind!

First off, your body is doing something AMAZING right now. You’re literally creating life! And yeah, that comes with some changes that can feel weird sometimes.
So here’s the deal – doctors actually want you to gain some weight during pregnancy. I know, right? It’s like the one time they’re telling you to put on pounds!
But it’s all for good reason.

Depending on your starting weight, they recommend something like 25-35 pounds if you were at a normal weight before, less if you were already carrying extra weight, and more if you were underweight.
But trying to actively lose fat while pregnant? Girl, it’s generally not the move. And I’ll tell you why:
Your baby is counting on those nutrients! Cutting calories could mean your little one doesn’t get everything they need to grow properly.
Plus, your body is doing this whole metabolic dance right now that’s specifically designed for growing your baby.
And get thisss – when you burn fat, all those toxins stored in fat cells get released into your bloodstream.

Not exactly what you want circulating to your baby, you know?
Instead, maybe think about it this way: focus on eating really nourishing foods that make you and baby feel good. Like, nobody’s saying you need to pound ice cream every night (though no judgment if that’s what you’re craving!).
You can totally choose nutrient-rich foods without obsessing over calories.
And movement? Absolutely!
As long as your doctor says it’s cool, staying active during pregnancy is amazing for your mood, sleep, and can even make labor easier. Just keep it to the stuff that feels good in your body right now.
I have a friend who was really worried about this same thing, and her doctor basically told her: “This is a season.
Your body is doing important work right now. There will be time later to focus on other goals.”
After baby arrives and you’ve had some time to recover (because that’s important too!), you can revisit any body composition goals if you want.
But seriously, if you’re really concerned about your weight gain, just chat with your doctor. They can give you personalized advice that makes sense for YOUR pregnancy. Every body and every pregnancy is different!
Anyway, how are you feeling otherwise?
Those pregnancy hormones are no joke, right?
Lmk me anytime – I’m here for all the pregnancy questions and just to listen when you need to vent! ❤️
